Ben Pulver - Personal Chef LLC, Metro-Detroit's Only Personal Chef/Personal Trainer
My name is Ben Pulver. I am Metro-Detroit's only personal chef and personal trainer.
After a decade working in the restaurant industry, I began working as one of the few personal chefs in the area in 2011. Before working for myself and getting the opportunity to serve my clients directly, I had the opportunity to work in some of the area's best restaurants, including Sweet Lorraine's in Southfield and Whole Foods Market in Ann Arbor and West Bloomfield. Serving in the front and back of the house as everything from a busser and dish washer, to server, to just about every cook position in the kitchen I learned best how to serve my customers in every aspect. The kitchens and restaurants where I worked were full of dedicated chefs and cooks who valued nutritious, well prepared, appealing dishes. I picked up all sorts of tricks of the trade that allow me to create custom meals for my clients that fit your tastes and nutritional needs.
In 2014, I incorporated personal training into my business, which already had a healthy living focus. I come from an active family; I grew up running, backpacking, biking, playing sports, kayaking, and generally just being outdoors moving around. I have always run, competing in cross-country and track in high school and continuing to race in 5k's, 10k's, and half and full marathons. A few years ago, some friends asked me to join their Tough Mudder team. The experience of training for and completing this obstacle run, which involved challenges that were outside of my skillset, forced me to reevaluate my approach to fitness. As I broadened my training and watched my performance improve, my body type change, and my overall sense of well being rise, I knew that I wanted to share what I had learned with others. I became a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM, the National Association of Sports Medicine. NASM is one of the most reputable certifying agencies and has a solid, evidence-based approach to personal training.
